Incredibly light in the hand yet remaining sturdy, this finely-crafted teapot is ceramic ware with an Yixing level of construction. The rims have been left raw, while the rest of the pot is glazed with a network of fine cracks; both will stain with time in beautiful contrast to the cream colour of the material. Produced by Jingdezhen-based workshop Fang Shan Tang, the lid fits precisely enough to control the flow of liquid with the airhole, while a built-in ball filter allows a smooth flow.

This teapot, with a squarish profile and thin handle, has been made in the longstanding evocation of pumpkins, melons, and gourds, with vertical dimples producing octagonal symmetry and a good quantity of charm.
